I can't seem to get away from adding gold lines and accents to my original alcohol ink paintings and I didn't know why until today when someone introduced me to Kintsugi which is the Japanese art form of mending broken pottery with gold lacquer.
In essence, taking something that was broken and putting it back together in a way that shows the beauty of the brokenness instead of trying to hide it.
I deeply connected with this and it made sense to me and now I know that the gold accents and lines in my original alcohol ink artwork represent hope and the promise that a power greater than me is weaving together the pieces of my story into something new and beautiful.
