As we navigate the ups and downs of life, it's easy to lose touch with the things that once brought us happiness. We get bogged down by the stresses of work, relationships, and just life in general. But as we begin to heal and move forward, we often find ourselves drawn to the things that remind us of happier times. For me, that's where colorful abstract art comes in.
There's just something about those bright, vibrant colors that brings me joy and helps me feel more alive. They remind me that life can be beautiful and joyful, even during the difficult times. It's like a little reminder to stay connected to my inner child, who found wonder and delight in the simple things in life.
Recently, I was working out and listening to my disco playlist (yes, I have a disco playlist, don't judge me), when the ABBA song "Chiquitita" came on. The word "chiquitita" means "little girl" in Spanish, and the verse: "Let me hear you sing once more like you did before, sing a new song, Chiquitita" inspired me to title this painting I had completed a week before, "A New Song." It felt like God's way of letting me know that it's time to sing a new song again and embrace the hope that this new season in my life is bringing.
So, if you're going through a tough time and you're not sure how to lift your spirits, I encourage you to surround yourself with the things that bring you joy. Maybe it's colorful abstract art, maybe it's a favorite song, maybe it's a big ol' piece of chocolate cake (hey, I'm not here to judge...just save me some)! Whatever it is, embrace it fully and let it lift you up.
Life can be challenging, but we have the strength to overcome it. And occasionally, a mere splash of color can serve as a powerful reminder of that resilience within us!
